Our drawing school life in pictures
Have a look

"The reason why I love to come here is that drawing here is different than in school. Here I have enough time for making a picture, can draw whatever I want to and the assistance is much better. And the tea tastes good, too."
Jázmin
"I started to come here as a child. In the beginning I drew animals, buildings, whatever I felt like, and with it I slowly acquired the different techniques, the knowledge of drawing. So when I started to take this seriously, I realized with my great..."

"Towards the end of 2007 I started to work for a new workplace. I did not want this change; life organized it in this way. By that time it had been in my mind for a while that I’d love to paint as a hobby, but I did not know when and where. At the beg..."
Kuna Zsuzsa
"I have been drawing for a long time but I never entered a drawing school. When I heard about this school, I thought I would give it a chance. The result was that I more and more enjoyed being creative. It also has an effect on my private life as I ha..."

"This is full recreation, physical spiritual refreshment, a “brain-cleansing”. It is entertainment, learning, self-development, “loosening up.” There is a pleasant, happy atmosphere and calm, inspiring environment. Good music during work. Friendly cha..."

"It was more than eight years ago when I first visited the studio, where different techniques, materials and tools can be experienced without any pre-training. Any kind of drawing or paint can be made with expert support, in good company and an agreea..."

"I have not drawn since I was a child and this challenge made me curious, so I came to the drawing school with the intention to visit it no more than a few times. Then the days grew into months, in fact, years. Drawing became my favourite activity; it..."

Kónya Enikő
"I just partly paint because it is good or it is recreation. I also paint because when I make a picture I can meet myself in a ‘different’ way. The birth of a painting - beside the picture - is very intense about me as well. By the end of an image I'm..."

"I like to come here, because there are no rigid barriers and all our thoughts and feelings can freely fly whilst we compose. And, of course, we always get help if needed. When we look at our earlier pictures, we can often see with an astonishing surp..."

Who we invite?
We invite everyone who wishes to spend their spare time in a creative, free thinking, relaxed atmosphere. In our studio a dentist, a business man, a language teacher, a biologist, a telephone operator have been drawing and painting for many years…young and not so young pupils, grannies and granddaddies whose paintings and works now decorate their own flat or were given to their loved ones.

No strict timetable
The studio is open every week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 14:00 to 21:00. Whoever would like to come should call me or send me an e-mail before 14:00 o’clock on the day, at the latest.Everyone turns up and leaves when they wish. Those who can and are willing might use all the opening hours.Creating a picture could be months; people can stop and restart when they want. More than one picture can be worked on at a time. The 10 session season tickets have no time restriction, so nothing can be wasted. There are some pupils who come back and restart after many years.

Materials and tools
Different kind of materials and tools are available. Everyone can try them all. Many students bring their own sets and/or working clothes into the studio where they can keep them in their own boxes. We offer free coffee and tea and the microwave in our kitchen can also be used. Many people arrive with food in case they get hungry. :)

What is happening in the studio?
Here we do not use the word ‘must’. Every participant follows their own path, their spirit, their interests and their wish of how to do things. There are some who prefer to become familiar with the basics of drawing and others who follow their instincts and choose their own materials and themes. On our shelves there are many objects which can be used for creating a still life; moreover, objects from your household are welcome. For creating pictures there are photos in our portfolios and books. I encourage everyone to use more than one at a time since we never just copy. Those who love experiments are very welcome.

How do we start?
Although it is not compulsory, I strongly recommend that we draw three pictures at the beginning: a picture of your own subject, then two boxes, and finally a drape.Making these pictures helps us learn each other and set up a common language, which will support me later to teach you as smoothly as possible. During these lessons we talk about and understand problems which we already met or could turn up in drawing in the future when making a picture. It also helps the beginners or the re-starters unfold and learn their own abilities and something about themselves.

Preparing for a drawing entrance examination
Whoever prepares for a drawing entrance examination can obtain the necessary basic knowledge in a few months. I needn’t to mention the more you put in the more you gain. Those who need to set up a folder or a portfolio will get assistance. The basic principal is that besides concentrating on structural drawing and toning, we also try to keep to the applicant’s own character.
