Whatever your personal wishes, ideas or plans for your art we will tailor your course to your own wants. Should you wish to take an intensive study or casually visit the studio when it suits your timetable, we will accommodate your needs. We will provide all necessary basic equipment for drawing and painting, or we will store your own private materials should you so wish. Our resident professional painter, Zsófia Varga, also uses the premises, as her working studio is on hand to help, give advice and generally direct students. The communal atmosphere means that students can easily watch and learn from each other. Works by many of our students are displayed on the wall. The studio accommodates those who can commit to a continuous study timetable, as well as those who would prefer a more casual and flexible approach to their studio visits. The atmosphere, teaching standard and flexible approach of the studio has ensured that people have returned again and again, even after having a break of a few years due to personal circumstance. Depending on your personal life style, wishes and schedule, we will adapt to suit your needs. We recommend you spend at least 3-4 hours at the Studio for each session, however your ticket entitles you to stay up to 8 hours in the studio during each session. On average the Studio hosts 5-10 students during a single session. Every student is involved in his or her own individual project. At any one time you can see at least one student creating an oil on canvas piece and in parallel his neighbour learning the basic techniques of drawing with pencil and paper. Zsófia Varga, teacher, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, Budapest, teaches and talks students through their own projects. However the number of long time and experienced students is growing, therefore help is on hand from more than one source. Zsófi recommends students at least take a few classes to learn the basic steps of drawing- such as perspective techniques and form. Thereafter the student is free to choose their own direction and will be guided therein by Zsófi and the other students. We pay particular attention to works being created in steps, and the student will be taken through these development stages slowly and thoroughly. City Park Open Studio does not aim to produce professional full time artists, nonetheless certain professionals refer to the studio for professional assistance or guidance, particularly those involved in design, ie architects, fashion designers etc... Due to the previous success of such projects, plans are afoot for field trips to the countryside throughout the coming summer months, The Studio is open to encouraging students in their own approach to themes and interpretation of objects in their studies. Nonetheless, the Studio encourages the student to learn the basics in terms of painting and drawing techniques in order that they may achieve their own individual style. The student is welcome to concentrate on just one piece for as long as it takes to achieve their goal, the Studio and all students are respectful of each others work. The Studio supplies all materials and art paper. All will have an opportunity to experiment with different techniques using different materials.
